“He is like a tree, planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither.” --Psalms 1:3

The BMT doctors by-passed Jacob and Brian’s room this morning for rounds because my two guys were still sleeping at 11:30am.  No wonder…they didn’t get into a room until after 3:30am last evening and then finally got to go to sleep at 4:30am.  Again, Brian was so kind letting me get rested at home before this week. He left for Youngstown around 3pm.

The Attending Doc did come back to check Jacob out later.  She thought he looked good, which is always a relief to hear.  She said she wasn’t sure yet if this was the rotavirus getting worse or something else. The blood cultures from last night are negative so far so we’re hoping it’s not something bacterial.  Later in the day the Resident came to tell me that Jacob’s stool tested positive for the rotavirus again or, more likely, still.

So…the dry heaving and diarrhea continue.  Jacob’s calcium level was elevated again and his hemoglobin was down.  They didn’t have to transfuse him yet, so I’m hoping it will be up more tomorrow so we don’t have to do that.

Please pray for strength for Jacob Treebeard.  Tonight he told me real seriously that he was sick, that he didn’t feel good and that he didn’t want to be in the hospital.  We’re hopeful that this is just a virus that needs to run its course, but it makes for some miserable days and nights for my little boy and that’s painful for a mom to watch.  I’d give anything (as any parent would) to take his place.

Thank you Jesus for holding my baby in the palm of your hand.
