“He is like a tree, planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither.” --Psalms 1:3

Tomorrow is Justy’s 2nd birthday and we’re celebrating big, stepping out in style.  We’re actually going away for an overnighter to Louisville, KY!  As part of the Kentucky Derby festivities there are some hot air balloon events planned for this weekend at the KY State Fairgrounds…on Friday night, there is a hot-air balloon light-up night at 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning there’s a race which means a mass ascension at 7:00 a.m.  We wanted so much to be able to take the boys and weren’t sure how we were going to do it as JT can’t be around crowds of people at all.

However, after an entire afternoon on the phone, some sweet-talking, and a pinch of Divine Intervention, we scored a room on the 7th floor of the hotel directly across the street from the field where the balloon events are held.  Sweet!  We plan to drive down tomorrow evening, pull up some chairs right next to our window, and watch the show tomorrow night.  And of course we’ll be up bright and early Saturday to watch all of the balloons take off.

Justy gets excited about anything, and you know who can’t wait to see the balloons.  Jodi and I can’t wait to watch their faces.  I hope the pounding rain we have here now doesn’t follow us to KY tomorrow.

The doctors are guarded in their approval.  In fact, they’re worried about us being two hours away since JT has such low hemoglobin numbers.  While we got permission to skip IV fluids for a night, we’ll be bringing JT’s Cyclosporine pump and his feeding pump and all of the equipment.  We’re even bringing a second pump in case ours malfunctions.  And to be safe, he’s getting an additional blood draw tomorrow morning to check his levels before we take off.

So please remember us in prayer tomorrow.  It would be so great if this went well.  Please pray that his lab results are satisfactory to the doctors, that we are able to pull off his medical care in a hotel room, that we can see the balloons as well as we’ve been promised, that JT's one night away from Cincinnati is pleasantly memorable.  And especially, thank God for two years with Justice, a gift beyond measure.
