First things first: we’re going to be out of “blog range” for a few days. Jodi is taking the boys over to camp where both of my sisters will be home for the weekend. And this is one of 2 weekends a year that I meet up with my best friends from college at a remote cabin in the mountains of Virginia. There’s no Internet access for Jodi at camp and there’s neither electricity nor running water where I’m going so we’ll be incommunicado, probably through Monday. Please keep us in your prayers as we all do some traveling over the holiday weekend.
In terms of health care…I’d forgotten how fast the IV fluids go through JT. Last night I was up about 4 times to change him out – he'd pee completely through his diaper, clothes and bedding. I’d change everything and get him clean and warm and dry. Two hours later, it would be the same routine. Jodi’s been the one to get up during the previous nights this week so we’re both tired tonight.
JT’s foot looks better, but there are still two places that remain open to infection – we’re keeping it cleaned and dressed and hoping that these wounds close up soon.
He’s up to 55 ml/hr on his feeds but he started showing some signs of distress today – he threw up once for Jodi and then once more for me this evening. We took him off the feeds completely to give him a window of rest but we really can’t afford to do that much: he needs to be hooked up all the time to get enough calories. Please keep praying for this aspect of recovery as well.
Thanks again for continuing with us on this journey. Remember, no blogs for the next few days… Have a safe and joyful Labor Day!
