“He is like a tree, planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither.” --Psalms 1:3

Once again, sorry for not posting for so long.  Things have been moving right along with only a few minor bumps in the road until this weekend...

Last night around 2:30am Jacob got a fever.  Jacob, Justy and I were staying at Brian's parent's house.  I dutifully called and had the on-call BMT resident paged.  The resident hadn't returned the page for 10 minutes so the operator paged the on-call attending.  This just happend to be Jacob's primary doctor - Dr. Filipovich.  I was thankful for this because the resident would have had to advise me to take Jacob to the ER and have him admitted, blood cultures drawn and antibiotics started (that's protocol).  But since it was Dr. F, she and I talked and decided that since Jacob wasn't having any other symptoms I should just give him some tylenol and recheck his temp in 2 hours - hooray.  Jacob was so tired I really didn't want to drag him to the ER and go through the same thing we did just about a month ago when he was really ok, but we just had to be cautious and admit him to the hospital.  When I rechecked his temperature was normal.

Jacob woke up a little not himself.  He told me his throat hurt him and he didn't bound out of bed like he usually does.  He also wanted to take a nap at 10:15am, just a few hours after he woke up.  He was coughing and little and sound a bit horse too.  It was clear he didn't feel his best but he still managed to play hard at camp and have lots of fun.  We headed for home around 5pm.  Jacob slept for the first 30 minutes of the ride and then woke up feeling awful.  He just kept saying get me home.  Needless to say it was not a pleasant trip home.  We were saved by a nice phone call from Brian saying a friend called him to say there were 3 hot air balloons landing in Grove City.  Sure enough as we were driving home we see these enormous balloons up ahead.  I quickly pull over and we all jumped out and got to see one land right in someone's backyard.  It was really cool and JT perked right up.  Then a bunch of the kids were playing on a steep grass hill and JT joined right in having a ball, but as soon as we got back into the van he started saying get me home again.

When we got home I took his temperature and I could tell we were moving in the wrong direction.  He didn't have a full-blown temp, but it was higher than it had been during the day.  He just wanted to lay on the couch with a blanket wrapped around him and wait for daddy to get home from his ATF weekend.  Brian rolled in around a 8pm and Jacob suddenly started feeling a lot worse.  I took his temp again and sure enough he had a temperature of 102.  Bri hoped in the shower and I packed the bag and off they went to the ER.  I gave Jacob some tylenol before they left thinking it would get his fever down.

About a half hour later Brian called me and said Jacob's fever had shot to 106 and that the helicopter was on it's way to life flight him to Cincinnati.  Ugh!  Bri and I didn't have long to talk and he was a bit stressed but he simply said, Jodi our boy is really sick.  Lastly he said, 'let people know so they can pray."

That's all I know for now.  They are in route to Cincy via helicopter and would have to stop to refuel in Columbus because the helicopters don't usually fly that far.

Please keep our son in your prayers.  We are grateful for all of you who continue to follow our story.
