Day + 50 – Wow, half way to the day our doctor will consider allowing Jacob and Justice to be together again.  We can’t wait!

Well, we made it home with NO yellow nose friend!!!!  Jacob’s weight did drop a bit from last Friday and the calories I reported he is taking in each day are really not sufficient enough for him to maintain his weight, but Dr. Filipovich was willing to give us a chance to see what Jacob does.  It was comforting to hear her say that the eating issues we are experiencing are very common in transplant patients.   She encouraged me to be patient and remember that a month or so ago we just put Jacob’s body through intense chemotherapy.  Dr. Filipovich said everything else was looking good and that she was very pleased with how well Jacob is doing overall.

Jacob’s labs were solid today and they are continuing to taper his IV steroid medication.  His infusion of IVIG went well, except that he threw up right after he took his oral pre-meds.  It’s so hard to watch him do that and see the fear in his eyes and of course, the episode did not help much on the home front when I had to give him his nightly oral meds.  It took us a while, but he took them all.  I am so proud of him.

Today he swallowed two bites of meat sticks and two bites of mashed potatoes. Baby steps.  Baby steps.

Thank you for your prayers for our son.  We are so grateful for your love and support.
