Despite my intentions that this be a restful day, it wasn’t. With Aunt Rebecca around to play with, JT simply burns himself out. He hunted Easter eggs, painted pictures on the art easel, etc. He will miss her energy and creativity when she goes. Rebecca leaves in the morning for California so it will be all guy time for the rest of the week. My plan for tomorrow is simple: read books and watch movies with JT on the couch. That’s it. We both need it. Tonight he was asking to go to bed before 7:00 p.m.
He did okay with his morning meds and was working on his Carnation drink intake when he threw up (a lot) around 11:00 a.m. Obviously this was a bit discouraging. But he bounced right back, said “no more throwing up” and cheerfully took on the rest of the day. I gave him some anti-nausea medicine and he was fine for the rest of the day so that’s the first med I’ll give him tomorrow. Hopefully it will make a difference.
We made another trip to the Sculpture Park and on the way home we pulled into the parking lot of a very entertaining-looking restaurant called “Boston Butts Barbecue” with a giant pink pig out front. We sat there in our van and looked at the pig and made jokes about eating butts until he was laughing uncontrollably. Good times, good times.
He’s such a good boy. A home health nurse comes tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. to draw blood for a cyclosporin level. His was very high last time so they’re working hard to get it back within the right range. Please pray that the level measures well, that he’s able to keep everything down tomorrow, and as I ask for every night, please continue to pray for no illness or infection, no GVHD, and a strong and enduring engraftment. Thanks.
